In 2001, the debt of Gujarat was a whopping 38.78% of GSDP. Due to sound
policies of the Government, public debt has been steadily decreasing & in 2011-
12 it stands at 25.20% of GSDP.
Gujarat now ranks 18th in debt to GSDP ratio in the
country, making it one of the least indebted states.
